First Concert at the G. Lykurgos Municipal Theatre Larnaka

In the first concert of the series, Sistema Cyprus returns to the Larnaka Municipal Theatre on Saturday, March 14th at 6:00 pm. The young musicians from the Intermediate Wind and Percussion Orchestra of Larnaka and the Intermediate Strings and Percussion Orchestra of Nicosia join forces for an unforgettable musical result that draws inspiration from different musical cultures and historical periods.

The young musicians of Sistema Cyprus are preparing to offer the audience a vibrant, dynamic concert experience, performing works for winds, strings, and percussion. The program includes a wide range of beloved musical compositions, such as Habanera and Toreador’s Song from the famous opera Carmen by Georges Bizet, as well as the masterful overture Romeo and Juliet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. A special moment of the evening will be the first official concert appearance of the Larnaka Beginner Wind and Percussion Orchestra. The young musicians will have the opportunity to share the stage with the more experienced generation of Sistema Cyprus, receiving their “baptism by fire” in a real theatrical environment.

Through this variety of works, the concert will highlight the power of music which bridges cultural gaps, encourages dialogue and collaboration, as well as social inclusion. The concert will be held under the artistic direction of maestro and artistic director of Sistema Cyprus, Santiago Ossa Alzate.
