Sistema Cyprus is delighted to welcome a new group of European Solidarity Corps (ESC) volunteers for the 2026–2027 academic year!
Joining us this September are Sejla from Hungary, Kina from Cyprus, Eva from Austria, Inês from Portugal, Stefania from Greece, Francesca from Italy and Simav from Cyprus.
Over the year ahead, our new volunteers will become part of the Sistema Cyprus community, supporting our activities, sharing their skills and ideas, and creating meaningful connections with our children, young musicians and wider community.
We are so happy to have them with us and look forward to a year filled with music, learning, friendship, cultural exchange and many special moments together.
We are incredibly proud to celebrate three remarkable milestones for members of our Sistema Cyprus community.
Julia Shalash has been admitted to the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School in the UK to study violin, Goldwin Antzoulis has been accepted to study double bass at the Sibelius Academy in Finland, and Haider Naji has begun his studies in double bass at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música de Madrid in Spain.
Their achievements reflect immense talent, dedication and years of hard work. As they embark on these exciting new musical journeys across Europe, the entire Sistema Cyprus community is cheering them on. We are so proud to see how far music can take them, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
We are delighted to announce our collaboration with the Avantgarde Cultural Foundation as part of the 15th Avantgarde National Competition for Young Pianists.
Through the new Sistema Prize, one of the competition’s finalists will have the opportunity to perform as a soloist with the Sistema Cyprus Orchestra.

We are pleased to announce the launch of MusicACT – Activating Careers in Music for Youth. The project is implemented by El Sistema Greece (Greece), Sistema Cyprus (Cyprus), Trillargento(Italy) and the Reina Sofía School of Music (Spain), with a shared mission to support young musicians in building sustainable and inclusive careers in the music sector.
MusicACT is a 24-month Creative Europe Cooperation Project co-funded by the European Union.
The project addresses key challenges faced by emerging musicians, particularly those from marginalized communities, by providing access to training, mentorship and real-world artistic opportunities. Through a combination of residency-based learning, online training and professional mentoring, MusicACT will equip participants with essential skills in digital self-promotion, music monetisation, creative entrepreneurship and environmentally sustainable practices in the cultural sector.
A central element of the project is the development of a Digital Resource Hub, which will offer long-term access to training materials, tools and resources for young musicians, educators and cultural organisations across Europe and beyond.
The project will also include a 3-day international residency in Athens, mentoring activities, concerts and artistic outputs, as well as dissemination workshops and an international online seminar, ensuring wide visibility and impact at national, European and international level.
Through its activities, MusicACT aims to strengthen cooperation between social music programmes and higher music education institutions, while promoting inclusion, innovation and sustainability in the European music ecosystem.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We welcome applications from young individuals with an interest or background in:
Orchestral music, including young musicians and aspiring conductors wishing to gain experience within youth orchestras
Social work, psychology, or project management, particularly those eager to support community-based and music-related activities
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be 18–30 years old
Open to candidates from EU member states as well as Cyprus
PLACEMENT DETAILS
Duration: 1 September 2026 – early August 2027
Locations:Nicosia and/or Larnaka, Cyprus

This prestigious European recognition honours projects that make a real difference in prevention and social inclusion. The international jury described Sistema Cyprus as “an inspiring and highly creative initiative” that uses music as a universal and therapeutic tool to create safe, inclusive, and empowering spaces for children and young people.
This award marks a significant milestone for our organisation and a great honour for Cyprus, placing our country among Europe’s leading examples of innovation, prevention, and the power of the arts for social change.
The official award ceremony will take place on 27 November 2025 in Strasbourg, during the Pompidou Group’s 19th Ministerial Conference, where European ministers will discuss future strategies in prevention and drug policy.
We dedicate this award to our students, teachers, families, supporters, and partners — to everyone who believes in the power of music to transform lives.
Sistema Cyprus is launching a musical instrument collection campaign, calling on the community to give unused musical instruments a second life by donating them to the children participating in this programme. Over the years, more than 100 instruments have been generously donated, helping young musicians embark on their musical journeys. Your donation can be the key that unlocks a world of music for a child.
